Another for this month ♥

"They're here,"
Hermione's finger trembled terribly as it trailed down his right arm. She pauses, and for a long moment stood there transfixed, eying the dark crimson blood dripping from the deep cut on his hand.
She wheezed. Nothing had ever make her expect things like this would happen so fast, ever.
Everything would be fine, he said, just the day before yesterday in the cold eve of Christmas. But he was no more than wrong about this. She knew it would happen, they both knew this would happen - but what is there to be done by two unarmed, unaware 6th years they're completely blind of. Deceiving each other of what lies ahead becomes more comfortable before they knew it; and yet today is the day.

As another thick flow of blood trickled down his skin, so is her tear that becomes unbearable - it lined down her cheek silently and tipped a warm drop on his palm.

"I'll go." Draco whispered in quiver of clearly shown fear. She eyed him in extreme breakdown, but despite so said, "Absurd; what is exactly running in that mind of yours, Draco Malfoy?"

"They're looking for us, Granger, the two of us, are you stupid enough not to fathom after all this?" He burst and gripped her shoulders so tight it pains her. "The Lord.. The Death Eaters, the like of me - can't you imagine what they'll see of me failing to fulfill their will, their high expectations, and moreover, of all," He shook her shoulder to emphasize his words, "going with you whom they least believe to be possible and they despise the most?
You're a friend of him Potter.. and yet here you are."

There's a long silence between the two as soon as he's finished. Everything went quieter than they noticed, as though all paying attention to what they had in conversation. For a wild second, she thought, something's watching them closely between the dawning darkness. But by the alarming look on his face, she could tell it wasn't only her.
"Go." He then said in suppressed voice.

"..but!"
"It's best for us to be apart, at least until everyth-"
"But what if you're killed?" She shouted, the quiet surrounding came to a sudden broke as her sayings echoed over, her hands raised to let his hands go off her. "I'm not risking you. They could of the worst impale you or murder you, torture you to death - that's what they wished from the start, and you're only easing it for them; you'll get yourself killed, Draco!"

He blinked down, and inhaled heavily. His eyes didn't dare to look at how her expression had gone so screwed from mixture of desperation and fear. But he spoke over the abrupt silence, so low it's barely louder than whisper, "I never intend to get myself killed."
"They do!" She fought to lower her voice as well. But nothing could hold back her tears no more. It rained down her jaw, along with sweat wetting her cheeks, which were white as chalk. Then he finally looked up, and said to her as he looked straight into the badly frightened eyes,
"..but it's a different story if you're in the bet."

***
She snapped her eyes open.

There are sounds in her ears.. no, more like in her mind.
She knew it's his', it's distinct enough for her to feel assured it was. Been having repetitive dreams lately, she did, and how terrifying it was for her to keep imagining about those, being the last thing she would want to.
About him, his wounded body, and him letting her go on the day they were..

But it's different now. She could hear murmurs, buzzing all around her as she seeped into her own world just before she had awoken - she could hear faintly between; sobs and painful moans.. was it him? She kept on asking herself as she hopelessly think hard to retain what she had on her dream, be it the worst she could do.

She didn't know where he was now. She didn't know how he's doing, his exact whereabouts and what they made of him, while she herself, is here on secure ground, settled although in vague anxiety, on her comfortable feather mattress with her friends, trying hard to enjoy peaceful little while outside which makes them somewhat like outcasts between this chaos going on around Hogwarts. They'll be back in no time, to fix things over with their other companions. But she didn't know anything of him until this very moment - there are no informations whatsoever that indicates he's somewhere safe, let alone alive and breathing. He's their unfaithful subordinate.. what could they've possibly done to him on the day he returned or the days after she tried not to think of though it pains knowing absolutely nothing. She held herself firm in secret since then even until this very second, careful not to let her feelings and worry be shown to Ron, to Harry, to anyone close to her at the moment. And all there's left for her to do now that she knew and capable of is to keep aware of news, and hope.
"Be safe, wherever you are," She mouthed hoarsely between her hands as the sunlight gliding over the gap of her tent landed on her face; warm, yet uncertain.
